Just in the last ten years, technology has rapidly evolved, and we have already seen the benefits and potential downsides that accompany these changes. When we look to our leaders, we must ask ourselves whether members who have served on the board for over 20 years will embrace these practical changes in our classrooms. It is not our age, or tenure, but our willingness to adapt that will determine the future success of our educational system. As an educator, a parent of young children, and husband to a classroom volunteer, I understand how inventions such as smart boards and virtual classrooms/skype have transformed the classroom into an interactive experience, fostering learning and the development of key skills.
